BLEACHING
Foods (e.g.
tobacco, red wine), medications (e.g.tetracycline) and root
canal treatment can cause our teeth to change color.
Modern
bleaching formulas can help reverse this staining in the
majority of cases. You must be carefully monitored by your
dentist to help
avoid over-bleaching, irritating your gums or developing
tooth sensitivity.

WHY ARE MY PARTIEL DENTURES /
DENTURES NOT FITTING ANYMORE?
They
probably used to fit when you first got them.
You are most likely experiencing a gradual bone loss process
that occurs when the teeth are extracted and tooth roots are
missing. Because tooth roots stimulate jawbone health, the
jawbone starts to shrink away once the tooth roots
are gone. Wearing a denture speeds up the bone loss
process. Normally, the lower jaw shrinks much faster than
the upper jaw, causing the most problems.
Most patients complain of the inability to stabilize their
lower denture or to keep it in place. Therefore, they have
problems with eating, chewing, speaking, and even digestion.
Many patients complain of mouth sores as well.
DENTAL IMPLANTS
Indications:
If you are missing one or more teeth, if you wish to eat
all foods comfortably, if you want to increase your chewing
ability, improve your appearance, speech and dental
self-esteem, then you are a candidate for dental implants.
Advantages: Implants are an increasingly popular
addition or alternative to dentures and bridges. They have
many advantages, including their natural appearance,
improved comfort and convenience.
Disadvantages: Where there is a major bone loss, it
may not be possible to bone graft the area or place
implants. Nothing is 100% predictable and in very few cases
an implant can be lost.
Price:
Varies greatly depending on how many implants, the need for
bone grafting, and what type of restoration (crown, bridge,
denture) is placed over the implants.
If you are considering implants, please let Dr. Hoffmeyer
discuss the options with you and help you make the decision
that is right for you.
